I decided to start blogging more, so here goes the second post within a 24 hour period. Last night, I fell asleep on the couch at around 12am and then woke up at 4am. The odd part about that was that I was wide awake and ready to start the day. I mentally had to fight off the idea of going back to sleep because it seemed like the norm. Only 4 hours of sleep and I?m ready? I need to train myself so that I can do that all the time, seriously. Because as my Dad used to say, ?Boy, sleep ain?t good for nothing but a wet dream?. That quote confused me until I grew older and was able to relate. There is too much work to get done to consume yourself with 8-9 hours of down-time per night. Why sleep a third of your life away?
So, I?ve been at it for about 12 hours and I?ve accomplished a lot. I?ve got my web search engine optimization (SEO) plan in place; I spent a couple of hours using the Google Keyword Tool to find what search keywords I want to compete for with both of my blogs and company website. I also researched how the competition in town is ranking and with what words. This additional research gave me more confidence because I am certain to dominate this market both via online and traditional marketing. Anytime someone thinks about buying a house in Champaign-Urbana, they?ll hear about Schwaps first.
I also took a trip to Kinko?s to get a map of Champaign-Urbana enlarged. I now have a poster-sized map that I?m going to color-shade by median house value, I have obtained this information via the U.S. Census Bureau. Although the census data is from the year 2000, it will still give me an idea of what areas have what values when I look at it on the wall. I should be close to a local property expert very soon.
I made an appointment with the Shane (the appraiser) for this week to look over one of his properties he is trying to sell. Hopefully I can get the property specs, pictures, video and find a buyer for his property. That would be a good start to get things rolling because he has quite a few more properties that he may sell soon.
