The Little Deal that got Smaller

September 29th, 2010

So, I’ve stopped chasing ‘skinny’ deals a few months ago.  But when they come right to me, I can’t help but to see if I can do something with them with little effort.  Perhaps that’s still a downfall of mine, that I must learn to overcome…I could be blind to the big-deals when I even give a small-deal a look for a few moments.

How do I save webpages…especially password protected ones

September 27th, 2010

I’ve got a quick tip this evening that I figured I’d share.  This tip isn’t so much related to real estate but it can come in handy as I’ve been using it for quite some time.  It’s called “ScrapBook” and it’s a Firefox add-in.  With this add-in, you can save a series of webpages for off-line viewing.  You may be saying to yourself, “what’s the big deal, I can do that already”.  Well, while it’s true that with most web browsers you can download a page for later viewing.  With this add-on you can download an entire website for later viewing.  And while viewing the off-line version, you wouldn’t notice that it wasn’t live.

TimeTrade update…already

September 24th, 2010

I’ve only been using TimeTrade for a day and I love it already.  I have 4 phone appointments to speak with Realtors that have short-sale listings later this morning.  I just sent them an email and asked to speak with them about their short-sale listings.  Then I got emails as they started scheduling appointments and it automatically goes right in my Outlook calendar.  This may not seem like a big deal, but I’m soooo tired of not being efficient, communication-wise.  Basically, it boils down to “working-dumb”.  I hate that feeling of working in vein.

Found a major upgrade…it’s called TimeTrade

September 23rd, 2010

So today I was working on reaching out to Realtors to talk about short-sale collaborations and such.  I was doing so via email since it was after-hours and I really am not sure if Realtors really check their voicemails.  I mean if you don’t have their personal cellphone, good luck contacting them via the 4 office numbers that you have on file for them.  So anyway, after about the 6th email…it became clear to me that I was going about this all wrong.  I felt like I was setting myself up for the infamous touch and go game of email and/or phone tag.

Everyday I Hustle

September 21st, 2010

This is one of those times that I post when it has absolutely nothing to do with Real Estate. Well, it kind of does, but not directly. But, Rick Ross, “Everyday I’m Hustlin’” is the theme song of the decade. It doesn’t get any more simpler than that. For brain recreation, occasionally I scour YouTube clips…and in the clip below…Kat Williams hit the nail on the head. Especially towards the end when he was talking about working in Fast-Food. If you’ve worked in Fast-Food before, you should be able to relate to the last joke, as that’s exactly how it is when like two people call-off of work. Hilarious stuff. And this is exactly how I feel day-to-day currently in Real Estate. The only break I get is when I’m sleeping. It’s to the point that I’m almost pissed-off when it’s time to wake-up because I know I have emails and voicemails waiting. This work-load doesn’t quit. But that’s a necessary evil…for the time being. Oh, and by the way…this video clip contains “adult language”. If that offends you, I understand. But I personally, don’t believe in censorship. So…#@$% it.

CraigsList and VA’s

September 20th, 2010

I finally finished all of the ads and instructions for my virtual assistant (VA) out of Bangladesh.? I didn’t realize how complex the scheme in my head was until I had to make it clear for someone else to abide by.? But if all goes as planned, I’m going to have a ridiculous number of new leads/contacts due to my CraigsList scheme.? The best part about this is that it’s going to kick major arse and I don’t have to do a thing.? This is awesome because I was really getting tired of posting and re-posting ads myself.? I think such activities were at least zapping an hour out of each day.? Hopefully, I can establish a long lasting business relationship with this VA.? The worst part about a relationship not working out…is having to start from square one to find someone else.

Baby Boomer’s don’t Skype

September 14th, 2010

Made an impromptu 200 mile trip to Champaign yesterday to do some face-to-face interacting.? I know I’ve established that this is the necessary theme nowadays…but I still have been trying my best to get around it.? But there just aren’t enough Gen-X and Gen-Y folks in Real Estate that are tech-savvy for me to be as virtual as I want.? When folks don’t Skype and when they don’t email…you’re kind of stranded to interact the old-fashioned way…face-to-face.

Twitter – A big waste of time?

September 9th, 2010

Last month, I had an epiphany regarding Twitter.? And I now realize how powerful of a platform it is.? Social Media is here to stay whether you like-it/understand-it or not.? I mean, Facebook is now the number 2 website in the world right now…they’re actually making a movie about it.? Facebook is second only to Google and I have a feeling that they won’t be second place for long.? The Facebook advertising model alone blasts Google’s out of the water.? Google ads are just about dead….Facebook ads are where it’s at right now (in case you were wondering).
